Am I too Young to Get Botox?
As the most popular filler on the market, Botox is used to help fill in fine lines and wrinkles around your forehead and eyes— leaving you with a smoother and more youthful appearance. However, many young women in their twenties are enthralled by the idea of getting Botox— if you’re in your twenties and are wondering if Botox is right for you, read on to learn more.
Different skin for different people
As much as it might be nice to look at a group of twenty year old women’s skin under the microscope and see that their skin looks the same, that’s just not realistic. Genetics, exposure to the sun, and overall health each play an important role in the health and elasticity of the skin. So, one twenty one year old may have the skin of a 40 year old, whereas another might have the skin that’s equivalent to their own age.
Does It Prevent Wrinkles?
Although there is no strong indication that Botox prevents wrinkles, because it hasn’t been on the market long enough to fully assess, there is some validity to the correlation. For example, if you notice that you are getting a small wrinkle above your nose and you get Botox in it, you prevent the wrinkle from spreading or getting deaper over time, which in turn might be assoicated with it being a preventative tool.
What is too much?
If you are in your twenties and are considering getting Botox, you and your doctor will sit down and decide what is too much— afterall, you don’t want to look plastic. You and your doctor will look at the skin around your eyes and forehead and assess any problem areas that could be potentially smoothed out without going overboard.
You don’t have to be in your 50’s or 60’s to consider getting Botox. In fact, many young women in their 20’s love the results of Botox and continue to go back every 6 months to get more.
