It can seem like there is an injection, filler, or facial treatment for virtually every skincare concern that you may have. Have a wrinkle? There’s a filler for that. Have acne scars? There’s a laser for that. However, if you’re looking for something that’s a little less invasive but still delivers the skin smoothing and tightening results as other procedures, try a chemical peel. Read on to learn more.

  1. They’re Quick and Fairly Painless

One of the biggest benefits of getting a chemical peel is that they’re quick and fairly pain free. In fact, they are so quick that they can be done during your lunch break. When you first arrive to get your chemical peel, the medical aesthetician or professional will clean your face to get rid of any make-up, dirt, or oils by using a gentle astringent. After your face is clean, they will administer the chemical across your face typically using a wooden tongue dispenser. After about a few minutes, you will notice a tingling sensation across your face that may be a little bit uncomfortable but shouldn’t be too painful. After about 5 or 10 minutes, the chemical will be removed and a moisturizer will be placed on top. And voila! You just got yourself a chemical peel.

  1. Multiple Uses

Another great benefit to chemical peels is that they can be used to help treat many different problems including acne, wrinkles, or sun spots. By targeting the top layer or two of your skin, the chemicals are designed to rid your skin of any acne causing bacteria, or that extra layer of skin in order to give you a smoother and cleaner looking complexion.

  1. Minimal Recovery

Depending on how your skin reacts to the chemicals used during your peel, you may or may not have a large amount of skin peeling take place. You can expect your skin to peel for about a week after your peel, but it shouldn’t be too extensive and as long as you avoid the sun, it should be a painless process.
